I'm a university lecturer, therapist, coach and mindfulness trainer and I offer sessions from our farm near Mansfield & Chesterfield or from my clinic in Nottingham city. Zoom sessions are available for those who can't make it here. Clients at the farm can also access quiet walks around the farm and woodlands. I offer a 'walk & talk' therapy option for anyone who feels it might be easier than face to face talking therapy.
I am a qualified counsellor who has lived it too: therapy helped me through my own period of severe anxiety and depression between 2016 and 2018. My therapist didn't tell me what to think or what to do, and I won't do that either. Good therapy is about empathy, trust, safety and time. From this foundation, insights emerge that help you see and feel things in new and different ways.
I am a qualified coach with a background in executive and team coaching. As a qualified therapist, I prefer to work in a way that integrates coaching with talking therapy. In my experience, this is a better way of getting under the hood of what's really important to you, what your worries are and where you might be stuck.
I can help you explore the psychology, philosophy and neuroscience of mindfulness and the benefits of mindful breathing, meditation, Hatha Yoga, QiGong and mindful walking here at the farm or via Zoom. Paulo worked as a commercial solicitor for two of the largest UK law firms after graduating from Oxford University and law school. He has an MSc in Psychology alongside his Coaching and Therapy qualifications. He works part-time at Nottingham Law School and his PhD focuses on the causes of psychological distress in lawyers (with an inevitable cross-over into other 'high demand' professions and occupations). This unique mix plus his own lived experience of a stress-induced breakdown informs his approach to his work with individuals and teams.
